CRAFT REVIVAL
DFSD is committed to promoting Sri Lankan craft traditions. But some of these are under threat or have been abandoned. The reasons for this are many, including dislocation, lack of markets, and insufficient product innovation.

Promoting Sustainable And Natural Dye
DFSD has convened a coalition of individuals and organizations in Sri Lanka using natural dye and/or promoting greater use of cleaner and more sustainable dyeing practices particularly in the design/craft/hand-produced textile sector.

Developing Sustainable New Products
Encouraging innovation and sustainability in the craft sector is a DFSD priority. We are currently working with collaborators, designers and artisans on a number of promising projects.
Contact us at info@dfsdsrilanka.org if you have a proposal to discuss with the Foundation.

Program of collaboration between the DFSD and the National Crafts Council (NCC)
Collaboration between the Design For Sustainable Development Foundation (DFSD) and the National Crafts Council (NCC) to support Sri Lankan artisans and promoting Sri Lankan craft.

Urban Island Kids Saturday
DFSD supporters start young! In June 2019 our social enterprise partner organization Urban Island hosted ‘Urban Island Kids’ for a Saturday morning of Edutainment where all proceeds were donated to DFSD.
